Beginner’s mind is Zen practice in action. It is the mind that is innocent of preconceptions, expectations, judgments and prejudices, and unencumbered by the habits of the expert. Beginner’s mind is present to explore and observe and see “what is.” It is the mind that faces life like a small child, full of curiosity, wonder and amazement.
A seasoned therapist relies on her/his training, skills, experience and the therapeutic relationship in making sound ethical decisions. How do we continue to trust our experience and yet bring a fresh and sharp approach to our ethical decision-making?
This day-long ethics retreat will address ethical decision-making from a very personal approach, using our experience and inner wisdom and adding “beginner's mind.” We will use guided experiences, deep reflection, sharing, and instruction to integrate a personal and present-moment application of our professional ethics.
Five hours of Ethics credit have been applied for with the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia. This will meet the Ethics requirements for LPCs, LCSWs and LMFTs.

Deb will be presenting on Saturday, March 29 on:
Embodiment: Engaging the Body in the Psychotherapy Process
Clients who are dealing with traumatic histories tend to manage the intolerable by shutting down or by living with anxiety, thereby disengaging from the body. They cannot tolerate being present with their inner experience. This workshop addresses the importance of helping clients learn to safely re-engage with their bodies so they can integrate that which has been disowned through trauma. Techniques of “embodiment” will be taught using didactic and experiential exercises.
